The Big Green Happening - Chorlton
The Big Green Happening will ‘happen’ on the Saturday 26th April 2014 at St Clements Church, so cancel your any booked holidays and make a note in your diary.
The Chorlton Big Green Happening is going to be the biggest green festival in Manchester this year promoting a greener way of life and sharing ideas across the community.
Whilst trying to tread a path that weaves around the main political parties, the organisers are angry at the lack of opportunities available to us and for our future. This will be a warm, engaging and above all a community event, but with a fair slice of attitude added into the usual cocktail of campaigners, makers, doers, growers, educators and builders.
Prepare to be inspired by the activists, support local eco-businesses, moved by music, wowed by ethical fashion and up-cycling, but most of all, raise your awareness to make conscious decisions to create a sustainable, ethical lifestyle for our future.
The organisers will also be crowning a Green King and Queen, and are looking for your nominations of friends, neighbours and family members that like living the good life. Whether they’ve fitted solar panels, walk or cycle to work, buy second hand records, books or clothing, make do and mend or grow their own – submit your nominations by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
There will also be an exciting Psyche Music element in the shape of gigs by the legendary Richard Norris on Friday 25th April at Chorlton Irish Club from 8.00pm, and Warm Digits on Saturday 26th April at St Clement’s Church, Chorlton from 8.00pm. There will also be a wealth of family friendly stalls and performances, including The Spokes – a fantastic ballet-like bike performance group, The Hooping Harlots – a sparkling interactive hula hooping troupe from Manchester and much more.
